Behavior Clip Chart
Each student has a clip on our chart. Everyday they start on
Green or "Ready to Learn"
When students are making smart choices by following class/school rules and doing their best throughout the day, they will be asked to clip up to "Good Choices",
"Great Job", and ultimately "Way To Go!."
If a student has chosen to violate one of the class or school rules, they are given one warning. If they have not not changed his/her actions after being given a warning they clip down to Yellow or "Think About It."
If the student has chosen to continue to violate rules after the warning and time to "Think About It" they clip down to Orange or "Slow Down".
. At this point classroom privileges may be taken away and the student will fill out a reflections sheet with me.
If the student has chosen to continue to not make smart choices or a more serious infraction of the rules has occurred they clip down to Red.
At this point a parent is notified and the student is issued a ticket, which must be signed and returned by a parent. (Every 3rd ticket per quarter results in an office referral.) All classroom privileges will be lost until the behavior improves and the student demonstrates the ability to control him/herself.
My favorite part of this behavior management chart is that the student has the opportunity to move up if the child is working hard at making better choices! Plenty of opportunities will be created and I will be watching carefully to positively reinforce good behavior! I want each child to succeed and have a positive experience.
Report card break down: E =3 or less Yellow S= 4-5 Yellow
P=6-7 Yellow N= 7-10 Yellow
Homework Policy
Homework is sent home each Friday and is to be completed throughout the week and returned the following Friday. If we have a short week due to holidays, homework may not be assigned. We will also be utilizing the internet in order to make homework a more enjoyable experience. This way your child can work at their own level, and have a challenge what is not discouraging. We feel every child does is not always successful with the same worksheet. If I feel your child needs extra support in a concept, I will send home extra practice.
We require 15-20 minutes of reading each night. Reading with your child can be a mixture of silent reading, reading aloud together, or them reading to you. When guided reading books are sent home, they should be returned the following day after your child has read the book to you.
Grading Policy
90-100% E
80-89% S
70-79% P
69% and Below N
If you notice a (+), your child earned all the points for the assinngment. For assessments, you will see a score at the top of your child's paper with the number correct over the total number of items. Papers are passed back daily, or depending on when they are assigned.
Mastery:
I grade to mastery to allow students to learn from their mistakes and better understand the lesson for the future. If a student scores 60% or lower, I will allow them to correct the problems missed with me during small group time. They must fix the items missed, and describe their steps with me. I will then average the original score and new score for an updated score.
Missed Assignments
For every day missed, your child is given a day to make-up the assignments missed in class. For example, if a student misses two days, they are given two days to make-up any assignments. Students have time to make-up missed work during intervention and silent reading. I understand there are special circumstances, if you are in need of more time, please contact me.
Also, please feel free to ask for work if you know
ahead of time your child will be out of school.
